Do yourself:
bypass valve ($40) <- this seriously takes 5 minutes, 4 of which is finding the valve if you don't know what you are looking for. Hint: standing in front of the engine, look down. There it is.)
PVC update ($75 in parts) <- confusing but no special tools required.
Serp belt and pulleys ($100-150) <- might take an hour but straightforward.
DIC ($300 + $10 for new plugs) <- also 5 minutes + 15 min for plugs. If it's running fine ignore this. Also remove the DIC and look at the label. If it says version 3.6 or even better 3.7 you can also probably ignore this.
Find a non-dealer mechanic:
crankshaft seal (At transmission I assume. tranny has to come out. painful. expensive. Lots of "might as wells" with this job. ignore if leak isn't too bad and no clutch/tranny issues.)
a/c compressor (How much to do you need A/C? If the answer is "not at all" then it is possible to bypass the compressor with a special short serpentine belt - do a search. The problem with a failed AC compressor is that if the compressor/clutch seizes, it shreds the serp belt and the car will not ...er...what's the word.... WORK. Could leave you stranded. Happened to me. Figure out something here.)
