When I did my transmission, I backed the rear of the car up steel ramps, then strapped the wheels to the ramps. Then, I jacked the front of the car up about 20" using the center jack point. I supported each side with jack stands using the side jack points. Then, I slid 2 inflated wheels under each side "just in case" something slipped.
When I did the clutch, I wasn't in a hurry, so the day before I sprayed whatever I was going to loosen with PB Blaster and let it soak until the next day.
One thing that you will need is an engine support beam. I built one with 4x4s I had, some 1/2" threaded rod and some chain for around $20.
Then I bought a transmission jack from Harbor Freight. I goes up/down, tilts front/rear and left/right. It was harder dropping the transmission because the trans wanted to move around on the jack. With the transmission out, I took a 2x6 piece and cut it to fit snugly to the bottom of the transmission. Reassembly was much easier.
You will also need some beefy 6-point sockets and a hefty breaker bar and extension to break the rear 4 subframe bolts.
There's a good tutorial on Dmtry's site: photo.platonoff.com/Auto/
Just be safe... Ron
