I'm convinced the reports of Viggens having "soft" wheels is a complete old wive's tale. They aren't any different than any other quality OEM or aftermarket wheel. I've been up and down the Alaska highway in my Viggen quite a few times, hitting major potholes and other road hazards. I once came to a place where they were adding new blacktop but there were no signs, so I hit the leading edge at about 65MPH with a massive BANG and was sure something was broken. I've owned the car for about 8 years and 80k miles and all my OEM 17" wheels are still fine.
The only bent wheel I actually DO have is the 16" OEM "winter" wheel for the Viggen. It doesn't quite run true. But after years of having minor vibration issues (always put it on the back), I found a tire shop that actually balanced the wheel 100% correctly and the whole car is silky smooth well beyond legal speeds. I would guess that the previous owner probably slid into a curb in the winter and bent the wheel that way.
