Does it sound anything trying to close it, like the confirmation beep that the cycle is completed?
Maybe the electric switch went bad (coffee spill)? Easy to test for me having a good used one to plop in but more difficult for an owner not having a stash of good parts laying around.
Some handy DIY people can take the switch pack apart and clean the contacts.
Other than that it is a matter of hooking up the scan tool and see what code is triggered.
