My 2000 2.0 t has had this problem since I owned it two years ago: with engine under load (i.e. on the road), it refused to go above 5000 RPM. Without any load, I can rev it to the 6k redline. Everything's fine until 5k and then loss of acceleration power. Felt like it was governed at 5k. Well recently, this has changed to 4k and it feels like it's getting worse. Like soon it'll be down to 3500 rpm. Car feels like it takes forever to get up to 55 mph... 65 is the max it will barely reach, and this is flooring it. Car loses speed on any slight incline, it's almost scary. Could this be turbo related? Turbo stopped giving boost a couple of months ago and disconnecting the W hose doesn't help boost either. I checked the fuel system, including pressure, and it checks good. Also, new ngk plugs, spare DIC, air filter, fuel filter. What else could it be?
