@ RON, as far as I know the newer engines DON"T 'burn holes in the pistons if driven hard' it's if they're not well maintained. I drive my stage 4 Viggen HARD and have done so for 8 years, but only after a good warm up. I also change oil/filter, plugs, DIC and MAF quite regularly. I have PCV update #6 and avoid short trips. Lean mixture and oil starvation kills pistons and these symptoms show up quicker and with more drama when driving hard!
This sounds like a piston to me but I hope it's not!
