In the locked position the key slot is in line with the seat back. The key turns clockwise to unlock the seat. It does not turn more than 90 degrees to release the seat latch. Good luck. I recommend pushing the seat back hard toward the back of the car in an attempt to take load off the key latch while you attempt to turn the key. The key latch is spring loaded so the key should return to the latched position when released.
