Depending on year, it is different techniques to turn on and off the theft alarm system inside TWICE.

I haven't turned off that many 9-3 but on the 9-5 it seems that the early ones have more tricks up their sleeve than later.

So when turning off the theft alarm completely on a 99 9-5 I sometimes ended up with a constant honking from the horn until I selected ROW market (I think).

On a 2000 and up I think it was possible to keep the car US market.

On the 99 I also think I lost the double click unlock function and it default to unlock all doors but on the 2000 and up it stays intact.

So it is some quirks back and forth and it can sometimes be the difference of one year split.
