Strange engine noise and P0113 CEL, related? Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Mon, 24 Jun 2013 11:07:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 2000 9-3 (207,000 miles) has been throwing a P0113 code intermittently for the last week. Searching this board I see that indicates either a faulty air intake temp sensor or perhaps a bad connection on the wiring harness.
Around the same time as this started happening, though, I have also noticed a different sound when first start the engine....sort of an air rush, moaning sound that did not use to be there at idle. You can't really hear it during acceleration, but when you back off the throttle, then you can hear it again. It almost sounds a bit like the sound made when the turbo bypass valve is shot, but I just replaced that two years ago.
Could this sound be related to the issue with the air intake sensor, or am I looking at two issues here? I don't mind ordering the air intake sensor and replacing it, but if I have to order more parts, might as well get them in a single order.
