How much is it? How many miles? Auto or manual?

If u say manual and 150k miles I might say pick another one because you might be putting in a new clutch within a few years ($1800 ish)

Or automatic transmission could need a rebuild but not til over 200k probably. Also about the same price.

What else could be expensive ? Not much likely -- if you say the car is $2000 that leaves you lots of cash to address anything anyway in theory. But if it's $5500 then you can do better- check classifieds here.

Fuel pumps may need replacing around 160k but there is a cheaper way to do it (approx $300-- by cut an access through the top under the rear seat) vs the expensive way (800$) by dropping the tank.

Any other part you can get used -- check the sponsors here. Or from classifieds here or new parts from eeuroparts among it here's browse and compare.

You'd have to replace half the car before you got to $10,000 and at that point it would be perfect anyway! Then ask yourself what can you get for $10k ? A 10 year old civic? Boo. Come on! This turbo with tons of surprising cargo space under the hatch will put a sh*^ eating grin on your face every day! Plus the people on this forum will help you.

Conclusion : get a 9-3 se. Try to get one in good shape for under $3k and don't be scared to put in another $2, but after that you'll be happy.

Knock on wood. Don't sue me if you happen to get a Lemmon.

;)
