A normal running engine and cooling system produces pressures way under the rating of cap and usually in the morning, the pressure is down to just about zero.
If it is a miniscule compression leak from combustion chamber into the cooling system, maybe only under heavy acceleration, full boost and hot engine, it will pump up the cooling system up to and maybe above the opening rating of the cap.
If the pressure is just a shade below opening pressure it is still more than what can be dissolved with a normal overnight cool down and you will have pressure in the cooling system when you open the cap in the morning.
Very difficult to pin point miniscule headgasket leaks and it is usually not until you have exhausted every other possible scenario that you start to look that way.
Since it is also one of the bigger ticket repairs if gasket needs to be replaced, it is not the first plan of action since you see no clear evidence of it like so many people think should be there with milky oil, exhaust fumes in cooling system, overheating to name a few.
