So sad to hear about this.
Most importantly, I hope you are well and taking care of yourself. Make sure you get the medical attention you need. Several here have given you excellent advice on the medical side.
Regarding the car, I had a honest doctor back into my 1999 Saab 9-3 Convertible a few years ago. He had a huge Chevy Truck. He was parked in front of me. He looked in the mirror and didn't even see my car. He put it in reverse and backed up really fast and crashed into the front of my car. I came back to my car and there was a policeman there and a note on my car. the Doctor was still there, he actually called the police and left me a note too just in case i didn't return. Very nice guy. That "minor" front end damage cost just over $4,000. Lots of things were affected although now you would never know it. It was repaired very well. He paid for it out of his own pocket.
So your repair could be very very expensive to have a body shop do it.
Quite some time ago an aunt of mine had a similar accident to yours and she had an old car. Her insurance company offered her book value. She showed through car ads that she couldn't get replace her old car for any where near what they offered. She argued and argued and finally got a reasonable settlement. So hang in there!!! Your photos alone should provide enough proof that your car is worth more than book value.
I think (without checking) that your insurance company's first offer will probably be only $1,500, if that much.
Also as others have mentioned no mention buying back the car until you settle on what they will give you for the car and I would then offer them $300 (may be $500) which is about the scrap value for the car.
Hang in there. Best of luck and keep us informed as to what you do.
