It was fairly simple, but some of that was because I replaced another double-DIN radio I had. The most complicated part of the whole thing is that you have to cut out part of the plastic panel between the SID and the radio, and then you have to figure out some way of holding the radio in. I used the brackets from a Clarion double-DIN installation kit. They screw into the side of the radio and have four tiny screws that you screw in from the front. There's just enough plastic around the radio for them to grip. If you install one in your 9-3, just take out the cup holder and use the bracket the Asteroid Smart comes with. No trimming required. Once you have it physically mounted, it's a piece of cake. The radio is very shallow, at least an inch shallower than any other double-DIN radio, so you have no problems with clearance in the back. I had to really push and shove and fiddle with things to get a couple of different Pioneer double-DIN radios to fit. This one slides right in. It also uses the same ISO radio connectors that the factory radio does, so you don't have to use any sort of adapter. I really like it, and it should just get better as they update the software and work any little kinks. If you root it, you can even install Google Maps and tether your cell phone through Bluetooth to get a data connection. It's pretty cool.
