Hey John. I have no experience with the Bilsteins but I do with the Konis. I have a 1999 SE'vert. I replaced the the stock Sachs at around 70K with Konis. Rode on those for another 70K+. I enjoyed them. On the softest setting they are a bit firmer but comfortable as far as the ride quality than the Sachs but noticeably better in handling and stability. On so-so roads the ride could be a bit rough, especially with the top down. Firming them up further on good roads was a lot of fun. That being said, I did go back to the Sachs after the konis began wearing out around 140K. Even with all the braces, subframe, steering rack etc, I was concerned about abusing her aging bones. Again, with the Sachs, the ride is more comfortable but not as planted and I definately lost some handling sharpness but she still handlings anything I throw at her. If I had a hard top instead of a 'vert I would probably have stayed with the Konis. Thats just my personal seat of the pants opinion.
