I'm going to suggest a need to bleed the master cylinder. I installed on once that I thought I bled properly but the brakes were as you describe. NAPA makes an inexpensive kit to bleed a master cylinder. I believe you will need to remove it to do so. I also recommend buying a power bleeder for the brakes. Eeuro sells a small plastic tank with a pressure gauge and a cap that will screw right on your master cylinder. This makes bleeding easy. Using the power bleeder you bleed the shortest route first. I believe this is driver side front, passenger side front, driver side rear, and lastly passenger side rear. I recall the tank being about $80.00 or so and the NAPA master cylinder bleeder kit being around $10.00 or less. The general bleeding is done only after you have bled and reinstalled the master cylinder. Nothing terribly difficult about any of this you just need the right tools and the right process.
