Computer problems???? Posted by Thomas333639 [Email] (#1880) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Thomas333639) on Mon, 17 Mar 2014 15:31:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello, compatriot saab owners, i am a new member, and am devoted to my little saab, which, when now fixed, runs wonderfully, with some occasional, though serious, glitches.
I own a 2000 Saab 9-3 SE, 2.0L, Manual Transmission, with >250,000 miles.
Symptoms: A) Car is going fine on Highway, when, all of a sudden, the engine cuts out. If, while still rolling along, i turn off the key and turn on the key, the car will start up again fine with a clutch start in fifth gear. OR, B) Car is going fine on highway, when the engine revs get stuck at about 600 RPM, and won't budge, but i can limp to the exit going 5 mph in first or second gear - in this scenario, turning the key on and off does nothing, but disconnecting the battery will reset it, and it starts fine. The second scenario started after i replaced the radiator and Throttle body this past week(the throttle was not working upon start up, and now it does fine). During both scenarios, the car would sometimes not start unless i either 1) turned the key and held it turned until the system appeared to "boot up" and the car kicked in, or 2) i turned the key enough times (from 2 to 6) for it to start right up. What needs to be replaced or reformatted? If it's the computer, then what happens to my keys and radio unit which are married to my current computer system?
Thanks, all, for any input,
Thomas
