rear spring seat rust Posted by PMB [Email] (#420) [Profile/Gallery] (more from PMB) on Wed, 9 Apr 2014 14:18:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Brought the car in for oil change and to have a slow coolant leak looked at. While it was on the lift, my local mechanic found that the point where the rear left spring rests against the frame had rusted badly and is almost separated. The right side does not have much if any rust but the circular weld has also begun separating from the frame. Is this fixable? He doesn't know and was going to check with a body shop they are affiliated with. The car is a '99 93 SE cvt with 152k. This is my daily driver. Every day to the bus and into Manhattan each weekend for work. It's due for new brakes all around, rotors, pads and possibly calipers. The water pump, (coolant issue?) was leaking a bit and I'm still on the original fuel pump which was on the to do schedule with the brakes. I was gearing up for the next 100k. Is there a new WRX in my future? The car is otherwise in great shape.
