All depending how it has been serviced it could be a really good car for awhile.
What I would calculate into the price is a new timing belt kit for about $700.00 and a major service with all the filters, spark plugs and fluids for about the same price.
4 new tires might also be in the near future.
So if you have that in the back of your mind and not think you could jump in and drive it for 100K miles with new problems, you should be ok.
The V6 engine got a worse reputation than it needed to because GM and Saab had no clue what it was and when certain things started to happen to it, the clowns at higher up did not know how to correct it properly and it snowballed from there.
When these cars were finally released from the clasp of dealerships and serviced correctly, the failures went down a lot and we hardly hear about broken timing belts now.
