Type of glue/epoxy for interior trim plastic? Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Wed, 11 Jun 2014 11:56:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
While having new tires installed on my 2000 9-3 a week ago, the tire shop took it next door to the car wash (one of those places where employees vacuum and wipe everything down inside) for a complementary wash and clean. While washing the windows, they slid back the inside sun shield for the sun roof to wash that glass and chunk of the plastic trim around the handle/vent strip snapped off.
I was not too surprised because I realize that plastic can get brittle after 14 years here in the summer heat, but the chunk that broke off was a clean break and I would like to glue it back in place. I tested a couple of glues I had around the garage that I thought might work, but no go. I know most super glues do not work with polyethylene but wondered if that plastic model car cement that sort of melts the plastic might work in this case.
Is there something else known to work for this trim plastic?
