I would recommend putting a thin metal plate over the fuel pump, and not plastic.
I also used the metal-backed ductwork tape to try and create as good a seal as possible to try and make close to airtight.
Kudos.
you mentioned being able to get in in 1/2 hour tops, but now that you've gone to all the work, probably won't need to get into there again :)
