'99 Viggen 155k with ACC
Read several posts regarding the binding issue. I'm hoping there's a sliver of hope in my symptoms and temporary fix. Problem: Airflow goes to floor and defroster only, very little flow coming out of dash panel vents even if selecting only dash outlet. However...
After the car is shut down for a several minutes, then starting up and calibrating (auto/off buttons), the distribution will channel the air to the dash panel vents. This has worked consistently 3 or 4 times since I discovered it (albeit with telltale sounds of the distribution motor fighting with the gears).
If I don't change any settings, all is good. As soon as I change to the floor or defroster, airflow will not return to the dash vents, unless I shut down/restart/calibrate. If I shut down and immediately restart/calibrate, that 'fix' doesn't work. Has to sit for a bit.
Any chance that this indicates an electrical issue in the ACC or some other gizmo dependent on the car 'resetting' after shut down, rather than the binding problem? Just seems odd that it corrects after shutting down and calibrating only. Like I said, I can hear the binding to some extent, but can't figure out why the restart/calibrate overcomes it.
Failing that...has anyone successfully fixed/replaced this recently. The threads I'm finding still say things like "warranty. (ha!). Good thing these designers didn't work on the Apollo.
