After scrounging up some info and instructions thought I'd post this to help out those struggling with their tops.
1st off you need to figure out what kind of oil to use. The conservative types should stick with GM hydraulic oil available from dealer and site sponsors. Those who like to live on the edge go with run of the mill hydraulic jack oil. I'm risk averse but pretty cheap which lead me to Pentosin CHF11s or Febi 02615. I went with the Febi as it was ten bucks vs. twenty for the Pentosin and Mercedes (p/n 0009899103) uses it so hey, it must be good enough for my Saab. There is a very detailed discussion about oils on another Saab forum if you want to dig deeper.
In terms of the process first step is to check the fluid level. This can be done from the trunk. A few screws and a flap and you can shine a flash light on the reservoir. The fluid level should be about halfway. There are two raised plastic horizontal lines on the tank.
If its low you'll have to get to the pump through the back seat.
These photos have a detailed description of the process.
Enjoy and thanks for all the help over the years.
