My rule of thumb is.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 13 Feb 2015 05:19:39 In Reply to: How often to replace serpentine belt?, Bob Newton, Fri, 13 Feb 2015 03:31:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Replace the belt and upper idler pulley at 60K mile intervals. Replace the full tensioner assembly (with pulley) at 120K mile intervals. Lower idler at 120K miles also - if your car has one.
My belt advise is to use a Goodyear GatorBack only! Continental belts have too large of outer reinforcing cord which will break on our Saab's small diameter pulleys, such as the alternator. Great for other vehicles though. The bargain basement AutoZone belt will not last until its 1 year warranty expires on these engines, their better belts may be fine.
