Got enough of the front end off to find the leak. The pressure hose is almost new. The leak is at the joint between the two sections of the pressure hoses. It's the junction point under the battery tray. The joint wasn't tight. The last person in there used an incorrect size o-ring. It was obviously oversize and they just tightened it until it felt snug. But the tightening of the joint just started to shred the oversize o-ring (probably SAE). The shredding gave way and the PS starting pewking. Of course the daughter kept driving because it ran. Albeit noisily.
