When I did mine about a month ago, I used a couple of lengths of wood and a spreader clamp. One piece of wood pressed against the metal seat frame, below the cushion, and the other against the clutch pedal. The spreader clamp (a Craftsman bar clamps with the jaws reversed) got it to the right length.
