'01 has traction control. I had an '00 base (T7) before the Viggen and TCS is a must-have for any winter driving. The JZW tune makes it even more awesome, as it basically never goes into throttle cut mode, which means it is great for summer driving as well. Hard cornering on dry pavement with lots of throttle is now quite manageable.
Where the TCS really shines in the winter is if you can get one wheel into some sand or gravel by the shoulder. Doesn't matter if the other wheel is on glare ice, you'll still make great forward progress.
For 100% dry pavement summer driving, you'll probably be better off with an LSD.
I drove a car with an LSD but no TCS on icy roads and wasn't impressed. Both wheels spin out so you'll lose control quite easily if you're not wide awake.
