I was at the dealer awhile back getting a squeak resolved and eventually they got it figured out, now the only squeak I get is the back tray thing squeaking and at this point that doesn't bother me.
The last time I was at the dealer, they were going to need it for a bit, and I had a day full of meetings so I needed to be at work - so I asked for a loaner well ahead of time when I made the appointment, and was told it'd be no problem.
When the day came about and I showed up, I reminded them that I needed a loaner and they said it was on its way. Eventually the guy got there and the loaner was a rental car from Hertz, a crappy Ford Contour (made me iss my car dearly). I drove it the 10 miles down the road to where I worked, and then at the end of the day when they were done with my car, I drove the 10 miles back and turned it in to get my great car back. The gas needle hadn't moved in the loaner (it was pegged against the F side), so I didn't get any gas and just handed it over.
I didn't think anything else of it and then checked my credit card statement last night and saw a charge for a Hertz drop off for $15. I couldn't remember ever renting a car and was made at this mischarge - then I loked through my calendar and remembered I had been at the dealer that day.
So my question - is it normal to have to pay for your loaner? I thought my dad (he has a different dealer in another state) had a loaner that was a SAAB for multiple days and they never charged him for it.
I'd like to hear what people have to say so I know whether to follow up wiht this dealer or not.
