I am making the assumption you have a 900 or OG9-3 and not the 9-3SS since you are on the 900/OG9-3 board. If you have the 2003+ 9-3SS then it can get more complicated depending on the year of the 9-3.
In my OG9-3 the dash speakers are driven directly from the head unit. I believe it's a single wire pair so there is no other connector other than at the head unit and speaker. If it's both speakers that go out when it's "cold" then I would start at the head unit connector. This is the only place where you have both sets of speaker wires. If you have a stereo removal tool you can easily pull the stereo out through the four holes and inspect the connector. Richard Bevan has a diagram of the stereo connectors, but I also believe it's on the back of the stereo.
If it's just one speaker then I would pull up the speaker grill on the dash and remove the torx screws holding the speaker. There should be plenty of wire for the speaker to come out.
