That plastic piece is indeed known to break at some point, and Genuine Saab sells a nice aluminium replacement part.
I had this happen a year ago but in my case the metal wire that's moving the window had tangled around something and messed things up, so the fix wasn't as easy as just replacing the broken plastic part. I was busy at the time and I too just propped up the window and it's been like that ever since. I'm surprised how little the non-functional window has bothered me, but really should fix it one day...
