Free fix to a mis-fire problem Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 12 Aug 2015 16:58:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My Viggen started bucking on the drive home tonight as the engine was missing. I stopped for gas, popped the hood and checked all vacuum lines and charge air hoses. All were tight. I checked codes when I got home hoping to find the P1312 or P1334 code for random misfires. Instead I saw P1304 for mis-fire on cylinder 4 only.
I have a new DIC/IDM in the basement so I grabbed that, removed the four screws, went to unclip the wiring harness, and What? The locking tab had not been locked and the connector was pulling free.
Son-of-a-gun, I reseated the connector, locked the red clip, and returned the new DIC/IDM to the basement. Still don't know why I didn't spot the problem when I popped the hood at the gas station and was tugging on vacuum lines in the proximity of the connector.
