Oil Cooler Hose Replacement

Has anyone replaced their oil cooler hoses (2001 9-3SE)? I'm having some trouble getting the upper cooler hose out. The hoses go through a piece of rubber that seems to be attached to the frame just next to the cooler. I can't pull the hose out of the cooler because the rubber piece doesn't allow enough movement. But the rubber piece doesn't seem to want to move out of the way. Does anyone know what's holding that rubber piece on the frame, or how to get it out short of destroying it? Thanks.
