01'93SE Auto Reverse Problem

My 01' 93SEHOT 5-D automatic has 215K on it and have been experiencing A Reverse Problem. No problem shifting into any gears, but when in reverse (mainly hot) it studiers like a slipping action or something is not catching.

I can move the car in reverse only by idling back with no problem--but when applying the gas it studiers. All forward gears are great, easy shifting. I did notice that I have slop in the shifter mainly Drive and Neutral as I free wheel it a lot coming to a stop.

Anybody have any ideas? Do I need a new tranny? Thanks for your help.
