TCS and airbag electrical gremlins.. help! Posted by Ryan Eirich [Email] (#2061) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ryan Eirich) on Wed, 8 Feb 2017 08:23:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Driving to work this morning with TCS on (i.e. default) and after a brief moment of wheelspin on the onramp, my dash lit-up with a number of lights:
1. The ABS light,
2. The brake light
3. The caution light in the center of the speedo
4. The TCS logo, accompanied by the text "TCS OFF"
and more concerning still, my speedo was fluctuating up and down about 5 mph/sec (60-65 mph, back and forth pretty fast). I could see moments where the headlights were flickering too. There was also quick pulses, which to me felt like the electronic "limited slip" kicking in (quick brake jabs to either wheel). This continued for about 2 minutes.
I pulled over to the shoulder and all lights went away without even turning off the ignition. I cautiously continued on my way and then randomly the problem would reoccur. I did find that in addition to this randomly happening, I could also trigger it with wheelspin.
Then another thing started randomly happening: At about the same instant, the headlights would briefly flicker and the same pulse sensation would happen (which again, felt like the e-LSD feature). An instant after that, the airbag symbol and the caution symbol would come for a couple seconds, and disappear.
What is going on!? I have been running a JZW stage 4 tune for about 3 years now without incident. I only mention this because he opened up the percentage of allowed wheelspin before triggering the TCS to kick in.
Your help is much appreciated!
I have a video of the problem that I can probably send to your email if you would like.
