Sports exhaust. Noise issue

I'm seriously thinking of upgrading the exhaust system, but I am concerned with the noise.
The exhaust on offer from Saabcatalog doesn't mention the width. How much is it? This particular exhaust seems like the best deal, and since most people on this board have this one I would like some opinions.
1st. Resonance at idle. Is there a rumble created by echoing of the sound inside the exhaust? -it's sort of hard to describe but you probably know what I mean- This is something I really don't want; it gives me a headache.
2nd. General noise of the engine. Is it audible with the windows closed? This is an issue as far as long trips are concerned since I often drive long distances at full throttle in fourth with very high rpms.
3rd. Will it interfere with the cool jet spoolup sound that I crave?
The car sounds wimpy now -like an electric mixer- but that spoolup sound is REALLY cool. Will I be able to hear it with the new exhaust or will it be overwhelmed?
I also get off on the crackle heard between gear changes on some sports cars (a guy in my neighborhood has a Lotus Esprit and on every upshift you can hear a great rally-type crackle).
That would be fantastic. I'm sitting here imagining it..
bad-ass revving tires screeching jet spoolup dumpvalve WHOOSH and then.. crackle crackle
