I have been switching from Mobil 1 10w30 to 5W30 every winter since we have owned our 1995 900SE with the V-6. The primary motivation is that periodically on our trips to northern New York State to go cross country skiing, the nighttime temps drop down to as low as -25F. The 5W30 oil in those conditions can make the difference between starting and not starting in the morning. I can recall some mornings when out of 25 or so cars in the motel parking lot, our Saab was one of only a half dozen cars that would start. So, if you live in an area subject to temperatures much below +15F, and if you cannot garage the car, I would recommend going to a 5W30 oil to insure that any starting problems that you would have would be minimized.
