Could a transmission problem mimic a clutch problem Posted by Johnhcarter [Email] (#471) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Johnhcarter) on Wed, 7 Nov 2018 10:29:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2001 93 HOT vert manual trans 73,000 miles. Clutch not working. Let the car sit for a few days, clutch working. Drove the car 15 miles or so to warm up oil. Clutch worked fine. Changed oil getting ready to store for winter. Clutch not working right as I exited the garage and parked. A couple of weeks later clutch still not working. I starting driving the car to a repair shop without using the clutch. Start in second works well. About a third of the way on a five mile drive to the garage the clutch starting working. Could there be something in the transmission that is causing an intermittent shifting problem? I’m the 3rd owner of this car and as far as I know everything is factory original. The car came from CA. The. Then to NV. I bought it 5 years ago and brought it to Ohio with 63,000 miles. I have put it in storage every winter. When I got the car I changed the trans oil. No evidence of any excess or abnormal metal on the trans drain plug magnet.
