Hi all,
Saab 9-3, 1999 base model with T5, 165K miles. It died on me one day, just bang nothing. No codes, and it would start then stall, start then stall. Sent it to mechanic who found nothing wrong, and it started and ran fine for him.
Brought it home, and it ran fine for a month. Then, it happened again same symptoms. Brought it home, and place a spare DIC in it, and it ran fine, but then sometime later it did the same thing. This time it had the optional burning smell under the hood, so DIC seemed to be the culprit.
I ordered a new DIC (aftermarket) and plugs from eeuro, and it started and ran fine. THEN it died on me again with exactly the same symptoms.
I ran through fuses, and replaced a bunch, but no change. It will run absolutely fine, then not. It can be cold or warm when it has the issue.
I can hear the fuel pump running when the car runs fine, and i still don't get any codes.
Last night, i did enter the twilight zone, as the car will run and idle and rev when i turn to the right, but if i turn the car to the left, it dies. I'm not kidding, if i sit parked and get it to stay running, and then i turn left it will die. If i do the same thing going right, no issue.
I am going crazy with this, i can't not trust the car and can't keep getting stranded. I don't have history on the car, but it seems it should have already been through a pump change (i got it at 140 something). The pump will run fine at times.
It has to be an electrical short or something, but i'm running out of ideas. Going to try and determine if the pump loses power before it stalls, maybe that would indicate maybe ignition issue?
I thought i'd try the hive mind before i put it out of my misery and give up.
Thanks!
Scott
