Hi Eiron,
The power steering pump from our NG900 was leaking, the one from our 9-3 convertible was sweating and the one from our 9-3 hatchback gladly does not have one of these isues (yet) ;)
I decided to renew the seals from the leaking pump and from the sweating pump. Next to renewing the power steering fluid, I (before) renewed for all our three SAABs the return line (part number 4482741). The return line tends to sweat or leak after 15 years of usage.
The procedure for replacing the shaft seal is identical for the NG900 and OG9-3 and is well described in the SAAB WIS. I assume that the English version is the same in describing procedures as the Dutch version I use.
Information about, and photos from, the Saginaw CB series. See third (#3) ‘paragraph’ in the link for the power steering pump serie that SAAB fitted in the NG900 and OG9-3. For me it was very usefull to get an idea and impression from the pump technique and the inside parts. http://www.offroadsc.com/showthread.php?563-Power-Steering-Pump-Tech
Best regards,
Dennis
