There is a difference between reading the code and checking the sensor. The code can likely be read by a variety of equipment, but not the cheap parts store stuff, likely only higher end, more professional equipment. My Autel scanner, for instance, could pull that code. Checking the sensor is another matter, and you will almost certainly need a Tech II or at the very least a VERY high end scanner like a Maxisys, etc.
But, seriously, it's pretty much always the module. ABS sensors rarely fail and the *one* that drives the speedo? Wouldn't bank on it.
