I couldn't wait. I was careful, but was easily able to tap the shear pin out using a small setter punch, but without removing any hardware (just pealed back some of the carpet). At least for me the pin tapped out from back toward the front. As I was tapping it 3 broken pieces came out. I actually only tapped it out half way, since that way the universal joint and the rod were now engaged and I was interest if the system would work. It did!!! I will still order a new shear pin, since a half inserted shear pin probably is not functioning as intended and I risk damaging other components.
