The esaabparts NOS tops come up for sale from time to time on eBay. Guess warehouses are clearing out stock.
Yes, I know alot about leakproofing. Best stuff is from the UK, ordered from Amazon, Protex World convertible top waterproofing. Actually lasts 6 months in the wild.
No tech2 used. Just raising and lowering carefully. Top is never lowered totally, just enough to get things done. Used a length of wood to prop up the frame in the front when riveting cables. Moved the first bow almost vertical to slip in corner pockets, then moved the bow towards the windshield to prop it. Standing on the seats caused a seam rip, so upholstery is in my future. My top gets "buggy" occasionally, but I eventually get it to sequence right.
Was motivated to do my own canvas due to cost to have it professionally done, and I suspected the pros DON'T have a tech2 to handle issues. I suspect they would do it exactly like I did, and if it got "buggy", I'd have a mess. The pro I got a quote from would reuse my back glass, which I didn't want, as mine had some defroster lines bad. I could supply my own canvas, but I assume there would be no guarantee from him. The one thing the pros use is probably a steamer to get the canvas to behave and fit easier. I've had to "old school" the stretch and fit process, sun and rain. Will take time.
