Normally the power steering pump will make a noise when you turn the steering wheel, like when you are parking. This noise will occur if the pump is going bad or if the fluid is low, the noise is like a groaning as the wheel is turned, not a grinding. If the pulley bearings are bad they would make a different noise, never had this happen so I can't describe it. Normally when a water pump fails it will leak. I suspect you have a problem with one of your pulleys. It just seems to me you would have trouble hearing a grinding noise from of these pumps. It could also be that the mounting for the tensioner pulley is failing. SaabTech posted something about this a while back. You may also want to look around at the Townsend web site. I believe it is http://www.Tonwsendimports.com See what you can find.
It just sounds like one of the pulleys. If the any of the pumps are bad make sure you ask for the bad pump and have them show you where it failed. This may seem like a waste of time, but usually asking a dealer to provide your old parts is a good idea. Let us know what the dealer says. Good luck
