help me diagnose my spongy brakes Posted by Ran When Parked [Email] (#2710) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ran When Parked) on Wed, 30 Sep 2020 18:44:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I replaced pads and rotors in the rear, replaced pads and had the old rotors turned in the front. I did not disconnect any lines, so I was hoping that I did not introduce any air that would require bleeding. But the the brake pedal now sinks to the floor if pressed steadily with the car in motion. Same after bleeding all four brakes, twice. Braking effect is fair-to-good if I pump the brakes repeatedly.
Today I tried braking with my left foot while maintaining speed with my right foot on the accelerator. The brake pedal stays firm and level, does not sink, no pumping needed.
This is a 1999 with manual transmission.
