Help - I cannot remove the ignition key lock cylinder Posted by thomas333639 [Email] (#1880) [Profile/Gallery] (more from thomas333639) on Fri, 15 Jan 2021 13:58:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The ignition key lock cylinder is in the lock position (farthest counterclockwise). I can insert the key, but cannot turn it, despite trying it hundreds of times after putting in dry lock lubricant, boiling water and rubbing alcohol, etc. I suspect the tumblers are bad and not coming unstuck. How do remove the key lock cylinder? I've tried inserting a suitably-sized allen wrench into the hole on the side of the cylinder housing, but do not know if that is supposed to work? Can i just pry out the existing cylinder and replace it with a new one? (i can obtain a new one).
