The part number you listed does not appear to be for the Viggen. While it is for some 2.3L motors, it's for the older models.

My '01 Viggen has a similar dipstick, yellow cap with black tip. It is approximately 26.5" long from top of the cap to the end of the tip.

So I it sounds like your mechanic installed the correct part.

While they don't have it in stock, the part numbers listed may assist with your search. I found a couple on ebay. Just be sure to double-check everything.
