The O-ring material must be chemically compatible with hot anti-freeze mix. Usually EPDM is recommended for this, although Viton is OK too. I would assume the water pump kits and individual Saab OEM O-rings would include compatible EPDM O-rings. If one replaces kit O-rings with regular black (Buna-N or Nitrile rubber) O-rings, which look similar, they probably will leak after a while. When pitting develops on the connecting aluminum alloy tube O-ring sealing channels, tube replacement is required. Also changing anti-freeze helps prevent corrosion.
