AC compressor lines: how to disconnect? Posted by Blue Devil [Email] (#3630) [Profile/Gallery]

I'm replacing the air conditioner compressor on my 2002 9-3, and am having a lot of trouble getting the top piece with the two lines going into the compressor flush enough to maintain a tight seal. To make it easier to position the top piece, I'm trying to loosen the connections on the lines leading out of the compressor. One of them (the horizontal piece in the background) has come apart easily, but the second one (the one nearest the camera) is refusing to budge after I loosen the nut. Is there a trick to separating this junction? The metal seems to be soft enough that I'd be careful about getting too aggressive with vice grips or anything like that.
