Have you first tried re-seating/cleaning the electrical connector to the SID? Missing pixels aren't usually due to an issue with the screen, but instead are related to a loss of connection on the ribbon-like cable. Replace the screen and you will have to re-seat the connector, so you may find it "fixes" things...but all you really did was re-seat the connector. :)

Its been a million years since I re-seated mine...I seem to recall I bought a kit of some kind...perhaps someone else can guide you to it though I'm sure I found the information here on the board originally.
