Weird fuel gauge behavior Posted by NCCaniac [Email] [Profile/Gallery]

My 2000 9-3 exhibited a glitch the other evening that I have not seen before. As I was leaving my neighborhood, the gauge dropped from showing full (or almost full) all the way to the bottom of gauge with the low fuel light on. A couple seconds later it returned to the original position, stayed there for about 30 seconds, and then dropped to "empty" again....staying there for a couple of seconds again and then returning to the original reading. This did not happen the rest of the drive that evening or on the drive home. On another set of errands yesterday it did not happen again.
Though probably not related, I had just replaced the passenger door air bag sensor the day before this issue occurred and I had disconnected the battery during that repair.
