Craig,
My brother ('94 900T) had the same problem. It is the poor design 'auto adjust' cable. He bought it from a dealer and they made good on their 90 day warranty and 'fixed' it. Saab comped them a NEW transmission, he eventually got a new clutch disk/pressure plate/bearing/flywheel resurface to make the car driveable. This only happened after the first pressure plate caused the stripping of the auto adjust mechanism. The dealer replaced teh first pressure plate with another new one and replaced teh cable. Now it is reportedly 'great'. Saab would be good to stock a cable with an adjuster in it. My '96 is a BEAR to clutch. (I have driven muscle cars with competition clutches which were easier!) It is so bad that I am thinking of getting rid of it. It goes to the dealer for a 'snorkel tube' replacement and I have asked if the hydraulic clutch bits from the 9-3 can be fitted at the same time. I hate driving it because of the clutching. It is quiet, smooth, comfortable and a great road car. It is a bear in the city. Has anyone replaced a clutch in their garage? How do you support the engine while the transmission is removed?
